Chief Barrs is a 28-year veteran of law enforcement who began his career in law enforcement in 1991 with the Madison County Sheriff’s Office as a Deputy Sheriff.
He is the 3rd highest ranking law enforcement official in the Florida Highway Patrol responsible for all commercial vehicle enforcement in the 3rd largest state in America.
He works with public officials across the country on developing public policy on autonomous vehicles.
He is an active member of the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) and currently the Committee Chairman for the Enforcement and Industry Modernization Committee within CVSA.
In 2005 Chief Barrs earned the department's Life Saving Award and was named Law Enforcement Officer of Year in 2006.
